Organisation

Stichting Art Projects was founded in 2013 by Nienke van der Wal, also director of the foundation. In addition to her work for the foundation, she advises cultural institutions on entrepreneurship, writes about art and collecting for various publications and organises exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad on behalf of Dutch museums.

The board of Stichting Art Projects is formed by Cyril van Sterkenburg (Chairman; director Vandejong), Amanda Pinatih (Secretary; Curator Stedelijk Museum) Zayènne van Heesen-Laclé(Treasurer; Counsel) and Frederieke Sanders van Traa (Board Member; Entrepeneur). The board of the Foundation carries out its work unremunerated.

Young Collectors Circle

In 2015 Stichting Art Projects Amsterdam started developing the Young Collectors Circle: an independent platform for beginning art collectors. Young Collectors Circle activates this ever-growing group of collectors by showing them the way in the art world and bringing them into contact with artists, professionals and experienced collectors.  A new generation of art buyers is essential for a healthy art sector: they are often young buyers who invest in young talent, thus not only investing financially in the art sector, but also generating attention for new artists and art forms. Young Collectors Circle motivates a new generation of art lovers to buy art, not only to enrich their own lives, but also to support the art sector.

Young Collectors Circle's strategy has proven successful: it is able to build a generation of new art collectors in a creative and innovative way, and to motivate them to invest in (contemporary) art.

Daata NL

Video art has become an indispensable part of our contemporary art world and many young artists who now come from the academies, Rijksakademie and De Ateliers to work in that medium. Unfortunately, these artists do not yet find a connection with emerging collectors, such as members of Young Collectors Circle. That is why Daata, platform for a new generation of artists working with moving image and sound, and Stichting Art Projects Amsterdam have joined forces to offer the work of Dutch video artists to starting and experienced Dutch collectors in an accessible and innovative way.

The first series consists of three video works, created with thanks to citizenM. Artists Maurice van Es, Mickey Yang and Anna Sophie de Vries created a video work especially for Daata NL. All three artists graduated from the KABK in The Hague (resp. 2013, 2014, 2015). Maurice van Es finished his 2-year residency at the Rijksakademie in 2018; Anna Sophie de Vries did the same at De Ateliers. The works were launched during Amsterdam Art Weekend 2019.

Curriculum Entrepeneurship
