Vienna

From March 23 to 25 we will visit the vibrant art city of Vienna. During this trip you will discover the city together with other art lovers and get to know the Viennese art scene in a unique and special way. The program includes two exclusive collectors' dinners. We will discover emerging talent and established artists within the Viennese gallery scene. We will also be guests in the home of a Viennese private collector, look inside the studio of an emerging artist, and visit the best museum shows the city has to offer. Don't miss out!

Thursday, March 23
Thursday is arrival day, with time in the afternoon for to visit the various museums in the city on your own.

16:00h Private Tour Georg Baselitz exhibition Kunsthistorisches Museum .
We visit a special exhibition curated by one of the most influential artists of the 20th century: Georg Baselitz (b. 1938). Especially for this exhibition, he placed his own paintings, including his famous finger- and upside down paintings, in dialogue with Old Masters from the museum's collection.

17:30h Drinks
We will get to know each other better over a good glass of wine or cocktail in one of Vienna's hip bars.

20:00h Cocktail and Collectors Dinner
Together with other collectors and curators we will enjoy a cocktail and a special flying dinner at a Viennese private collection.

Friday, March 24
Friday is all about discovering the city; together we will explore Vienna's ecosystem of the arts and look inside galleries, collectors homes and artists studios.

10:00am Collectors Breakfast
Together we will enjoy a delicious breakfast in one of Vienna's galleries.

11:00am Gallery Tour
This morning we dive into the Viennese gallery scene, visiting both young galleries and established names. Not only will you discover the local art scene, but we will also see some of the city's beautiful architecture.

14:30h Private tour Heidi Horten Collection.
This brand new private museum houses the collection of Austrian mega-collector Heidi Goëss-Horten (1941 - 2022). The collection consists of masterpieces from the 20th and 21st centuries, from Niki de Saint Phalle to Jean-Michel Basquiat.

16:00h Collection Visit to a Private Collector.
There is no shortage of collectors in the Austrian capital. This afternoon we will visit a private Viennese collector, who will open his collection especially for us. Personal stories and anecdotes are not only an inspiration for your own collecting adventure but also provide insight into the local art scene: what is a favorite among Viennese collectors?

18:00h Gallery Exhibition Opening
This afternoon meet other art lovers and collectors at an exclusive exhibition opening at one of Vienna's top galleries.

19:30h Collectors Dinner
We will conclude this day with a unique dinner in the studio of a multi-disciplinary artist. Here, together with other collectors, we will be immersed in the artistic and experimental world of this international artist.

Saturday, March 25
On our last day, we continue exploring the city with a visit to one of Vienna's most renowned art institutions and a special studio visit just outside the city.

11:00h Private Tour MUMOK .
MUMOK is the largest museum of modern art in central Europe and we will discover the innovative work of the international and Austrian avant-garde.

13:00h Studio visit
We conclude our trip with a studio visit with a young, emerging Austrian artist. Her work explores dynamic and colorful compositions in different media. We will visit her impressive studio and learn more about her artistic practice and discover the different techniques (from painting to textiles) she uses.

Costs

The entire trip costs €450 for members, €600 for non-members. This includes: 1x cocktail/champagne on Thursday evening, 1x dinner on Friday evening and participation in the entire program incl. admission, tours and tickets. Not included is hotel, flight/train ticket, transportation within Vienna and to and from train station/airport, travel and cancellation insurance and all meals not mentioned in the program.

Conditions

Please note that booking this trip is at your own risk. Should the trip not be able to go ahead due to corona measures then in force, you will receive a 50% refund of your registration fee. We will cancel the trip if the events in the program (art fairs, museums, galleries, collections) are cancelled or closed or if there is a ban on entry or a quarantine obligation for the destination at the time of the trip. If the presentation of a negative test result or vaccination certificate is required, you must provide this yourself. Should you travel to the destination on your own despite the cancellation of the organized trip, we will - if possible - still provide you with tickets to the fairs, museums or collections.

Travel & accommodation

You are responsible for booking your trip, hotel and any insurance. We can give you advice on transportation and accommodation. We recommend traveling by train or plane, for both options there is a direct journey from Amsterdam to Vienna. If you book outbound (March 23) flight KL1845 from 09:45 from Schiphol and return (March 25) flight KL1848 from 16:55 from Vienna you can attend all parts of the program. In Vienna there is a wide choice of hotels and apartments for every budget. If you wish, we can give you a hotel suggestion. Booking of travel and accommodation is at your own risk.

Registrations must be received by February 15, 2023 via travel@youngcollectorscircle.nl, on this date we will let you know if the trip can go ahead and if there are enough registrations. Defintive participation is in order of payment. If you register for the trip you will receive a payment request from us. Once this has been paid, we will confirm your participation and send you regular updates on the trip and the program.
