Programme (subject to change)
WEDNESDAY 23 MARCH
On arrival day, we have listed some great tips for you to visit at your own pace, including top exhibitions in museums, must-sees for your first time in New York and handy tips on how to navigate the city. Prefer to relax in your hotel room after the long flight? That's possible too, of course. We meet this evening at 18.00 for cocktails in a beautiful New York bar, where you can already taste the atmosphere of the city and meet your travel companions!
Recommended flight: KL0641 / departure Schiphol 10.50h - arrival JFK 14.10h (price return flight on 24/10/21 approx. €600)
THURSDAY, MARCH 23
Discover the vibrant gallery scene in TriBeCa on a gallery tour, where we visit hip, up-and-coming galleries (such as Artist Space and Theta). After a lunch break we take you to impressive artworks in hidden places, such as a skyscraper lobby designed as a total installation by James Turrell and the famous Earth Room by Walter de Maria, hidden above a Ralph Lauren flagship store. After this art tour, we will visit the leading New Museum and get a peek into the home of a New York collector who will open their private collection especially for us. We conclude the day with a joint dinner in a cosy restaurant.
FRIDAY 24 MARCH
We take the subway (or Uber) to the famous Upper East Side where we visit a large auction house, and we get a unique look behind the scenes of the auction business. We continue our journey via a number of exceptional works of art in the (semi) public space - by Alicja Kwade, among others - to the famous gallery district of Chelsea. Here, mega-galleries such as PACE, David Zwirner and Jack Shainman present artists who belong to the world top. The afternoon is concluded with an Art & Architecture Tour on The High Line, after which you have the opportunity to visit, for example, the Whitney Museum.
SATURDAY 25 MARCH
On Saturday we will spend the whole day in Brooklyn, the hip, raw borough of New York. It is not without reason that this district is embraced by artists and other creatives. We start the day with a studio tour in which we visit the studios of various New York artists, the perfect moment to spot new talent; even before the big, international galleries have discovered them. We will also visit a number of art institutions just off the beaten track and pay attention to the architecture, street art and history of the district.
SUNDAY 26 MARCH
We conclude the trip together with a casual brunch where you can exchange your experiences with your travel companions. Of course we will give you tips to discover the rest of the art scene of the city yourself that afternoon!
Recommended flight: KL0646 / departure JFK: 18.30h - arrival Schiphol 07.50h Monday morning (price return flight on 24/10/21 approx. €600)
