Brussels Gallery Weekend

Brussels is booming when it comes to contemporary art. The European capital has a surprising mix of high-brow galleries and museums, to more experimental and up and coming art initiatives. During the Brussels Gallery Weekend we'll submerge ourselves in the lively Brussels art scene of international allure. We'll meet artists in their studio, discover young talent and visit the private collections of other art addicts. Be prepared for a long weekend filled with inspiration and artistic discoveries!

Friday September 9

11.28h - 14.12h Travel
Amsterdam CS - Brussels Midi with IC Brussels (optional)
15.30h Studio visit Sean Crossley
We will start with a studio visit to Sean Crossley (1987, Australia). Crossley uses painting as a medium to explore the boundaries and correlation betweaan abstraction and realism. We will have an insight into his practise and ask him everything about his work.
16.30h Gallery Tour
We explore the local art scene with a gallery tour where we'll discover the work of young talent and established artists, working in a variety of disciplines.
19.30h VIP Collectors Dinner
During an exclusive dinner in the Brussels Gallery Weekend Hub we will get to know each other a bit better. We will also meet other collectors, gallerists and professionals from the field during an evening filled dinner.

Saturday September 10

10.30h Breakfast
We will enjoy a delicious breakfast by Boulengier in the BGW Hub.
11.00h Gallery Tour
Brussels' downtown area features a wide range of galleries. Together we will explore a selection of the renowned gallery scene.
13.00h Lunch
During lunch (own expense) we will catch up on what we've seen so far.
14.00h Visit private collection Arthur Donck
Arthur Donck is young, architect and passionate collector of art and design. We will learn how his love for art and design came about and discover what and how he collects.
15.30h Gallery Tour
In the lively area le Sablon you'll find an ecclectic mix of antiques and contemporary art galleries. Together we'll visit a selection of galleries.
17.00h Free evening
Le Sablon is bustling and filled with countless stylish bars and bistro's. In the weekends this is the place to be for art- and antiques lovers. Take a stroll along the many antique shops in elaborate mansions and enjoy an apero and dinner (own expense).

Sunday September 11

9.30h Breakfast (own expense)
10.30h Visit private collection
We will visit the collection of a private collector.
11.30h Gallery Tour
We will discover the local gallery scene in uptown Brussels.
13.00h Lunch
A nice Sunday lunch (own expense).
15.00h Collector’s Tea Time
With other collectors we will be served a luxurious Tea Time in the BGW Hub.
16.00h Private visit Wiels
A visit to Wiels can't be missed, it is internationally regarded as the centre for contemporary art. In this former brewery, Wiels programmes leading exhibitions by emerging and established artists.
18.00h Generation Brussels Prize Ceremony
While we enjoy a drink we will attend the Generation Brussels Prize Ceremony and discover who are the emerging artists in Brussels. Organized by a different curator each year, the exhibition aims at highlighting young Brussels artists who have not yet been called by galleries.
19.30h - 22.30h Travel
Brussels Midi - Amsterdam CS with IC Brussels (optional).

Cost

The costs are €375,- (including meals, drinks and tours mentioned in the program above). Not included is hotel, flight/train ticket, transportation within Brussels and to and from train station/airport, travel and cancellation insurance and all meals not mentioned in the program.

Conditions

Please note that booking this trip is at your own risk. If the trip cannot take place due to the corona measures at the time of the trip, you will receive a 50% refund of your registration fee. We will cancel the trip if the events in the program (art fairs, museums, galleries, collections) are cancelled or closed or if at the time of the trip there is a ban on entry or a mandate for quarantine for our destination. If a negative test result or vaccination certificate is required, you must take care of this yourself. If, despite the cancellation of the organized trip, you still go to your destination on your own, we will provide you - if possible - with tickets for the fairs, museums or collections.

Travel and accommodation

You are responsible for booking your trip and hotel and for any insurance arrangements. We can advise you on transport and accommodation. With NS Internationaal and Thalys you can travel easily and quick to Brussels.
