Marélise Pollard
I am a community manager at Young Collectors Circle. I am also an art historian with a specialization in the art market and the technical aspects of art such as materials and techniques. Although I was a real beta in high school, I studied art history because I wanted to become a painting restorer. After a while I found out that it was the research into techniques and materials in art that really sparked my interest, so I eventually decided to do the master Technical Art History. Because everything around authenticity fascinated me so much, I also specialized in the art market. This is how I ended up at Young Collectors Circle in 2020, first as an intern and then as Community Manager. To enthuse (young) people for art is a real passion for me, therefore I am also responsible for all master classes of Young Collectors Circle since January 2022.
Art
I have just started collecting myself and would like to collect in the theme of nature, climate, conservation and sustainability. I have now collected mainly photography and ceramics and would like to buy my first painting soon. I love art that is made with an eye for detail and technique. Both aesthetics and the idea behind a piece of art are important to me. It makes you enjoy looking at it longer.
Tips for 2022
I am a huge fan of Charlotte Dumas, her exhibition is still on display at Huis Marseille. I can also highly recommend the Botanical Revolution in the Centraal Museum Utrecht and the Alphonse Mucha exhibition in The Hague.
Fun Fact
Besides my work in the visual arts I also play the cello. Every Tuesday evening I lead a super fun group of cellists at the CREA Orchestra in Amsterdam.
